Three manufacturers offer their service to prepare a drone

(B2) Three companies: one European, the other French, the last Italian (EADS, Dassault and Finmeccanica) have decided to join forces to develop a European MALE (medium altitude long endurance) intelligence drone project by 2022, as reported by our colleague Alain Ruello from Echoes. Amount: 1 billion euros. Scalded by the French purchase of American Reaper drones, due to the lack of an independent European industrial sector, the three industrialists would have decided to resuscitate the Franco-German Talarion project, cleansed of its original faults. EADS would be the industrial leader of a project which would only see the light of day on the non-negotiable condition that one of the three potentially interested countries – France, Germany, Italy – assumes the role of sole contractor. But, due to a lack of immediate funding and a lack of political will really demonstrated in Paris, Rome and Berlin, no schedule for feasibility studies has yet been set, even though it is the first step in launching this project.
