(BRUXELLES2) His nickname is not yet known. But the training of the third battalion of the Malian army by European trainers is starting. 200 of the 700 soldiers who form this new battalion had already arrived in Koulikoro at the beginning of October (*).

The arrival of soldiers (from different units) is usually done gradually and should be completed by the end of the week, according to information received at B2. In the meantime, the soldiers present have begun an induction circuit. Their company commanders and platoon leaders (28) have already finalized their “preliminary training course” to reinforce the tactical knowledge and command aptitude of the officers of the Malian battalion.

Commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Sangaré, the battalion is mainly made up of soldiers from the Malian armed forces training center in Markala. And it is supplemented by elements from all over Mali. It will be structured around three infantry companies, reinforced with specialized support units (armoured combat, fire support, engineering, logistics

Departure of the "Elou" battalion

The second Malian battalion left the Koulikoro camp on Saturday (September 28) for its deployment in northern Mali, at the end of its ten weeks of training by the European Training Mission in Mali (EUTM Mali). . Composed of 700 men and 60 vehicles, some brand new, the Elou battalion will now be accompanied by a French operational assistance detachment (DAO) belonging to the SERVAL force.
