Central Southern AfricaMissions Operations

Last extension before closing

(BRUSSELS2) The two European crisis management assistance missions in the DR Congo have been extended for one year. EUPOL (police mission) and EUSEC (security sector reform) have their mandates extended until 30 September 2014. The EU Council of Ministers approved this measure by written procedure on 23 September. The budget foreseen for this additional year is 6,3 million euros for EUPOL and 8,5 million euros for EUSEC, entirely supported by the budget of the European Union (like all civilian missions). Note that this extension is normally the last before closing the two missions.
