An electoral mission in Guinea Conakry
(BRUSSELS2) The European Union is deploying an electoral observation mission in the Republic of Guinea (Conakry). A mission that responds to a invitation from the authorities and will control the legislative elections on 24th September next. " A core team of 8 EU electoral experts arrived in Conakry on 22 August. They were joined by 24 long-term observers, to whom will be added, a few days before the election, 30 short-term observers announced the European diplomatic service. These 70 observers are headed by Romanian MEP Cristian Dan Preda (EPP), who arrived on site on 29th August last. " Shortly after election day, the mission will publish a preliminary statement presenting its first analyzes on the occasion of a press conference organized in Conakry. The mission will remain in the Republic of Guinea to observe the final vote count and appeals procedures and prepare a comprehensive report which will also include recommendations to improve electoral processes in the future. »
