First conversation with the new head of Iranian diplomacy

(BRUSSELS2) A first discussion between Catherine Ashton, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Javad Zarif took place on Saturday (17 August). And an appointment should soon follow... The two partners have agreed. Appointment which could take place at the end of September, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Iran wants to resume discussions announced the Iranian minister. The High Representative - who is negotiating for the E3+3 group (*), for her part, underlined how much she was " determined and committed to seeking a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue ". (*) the 3 European countries (France, United Kingdom, Germany) + United States, Russia and China. This group is also called 5+1 (the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council + Germany).
