The Malian national guard trained in tactical intelligence

(BRUSSELS2) 35 members of the Malian National Guard have just completed a course on tactical intelligence. For six weeks, they benefited from training provided by three executives from the audit-advisory team of the European mission EUTM Mali (two French and one Romanian).

They were awarded a diploma at the end of April 26. A graduation ceremony which took place under the watchful eye of Malian Colonel-Major Fane, Chief of Staff of the Malian Army, and Italian Colonel Di Sarra, Deputy Commander of the EUTM Mali. We will recognize in the photo the famous anchor of the marine infantry...

This training is part of the audit-advisory framework of the EUTM Mali mission, making it possible to provide the various structures of the armed forces with "rush" training. It thus makes it possible to complete the longer action of restructuring the Malian army with training and formation of new battalions, initiated at the Koulikoro camp. This tactical intelligence course was divided into three phases, we told EUTM Mali. The first, lasting two weeks, focused on individual know-how. The second phase was devoted to the organization of work and the conduct of the intelligence cycle, and this, for three weeks. Finally, continuous monitoring has punctuated the last few days.

The National Guard is a mixed military force. Dependent on the Ministry of Defence, it is made available to the Ministry of Security and responsible for maintaining territorial order but also, and above all, border surveillance. She is the heiress of the Territorial Circles and the Goumier Guards. The latter were largely recruited from nomads using the "Mehan" or camel to get around. It should be one of the first Malian forces, deployed in the north of the country, to ensure the restoration of state authority there. Its re-equipment (in camels, vehicles, transmission devices, etc.) is in progress, largely financed by the European Union under the "short-term" Instrument for Stability.
