EUTM Mali: 24 hours in advance…

(BRUSSELS2, exclusive) The training mission of the Malian army (EUTM Mali) could be triggered 24 hours in advance. And the official green light delivered this Monday (February 11). The holding of the European Council, like the absence of a meeting of the COPS – the political and security committee – and Coreper – the Committee of Permanent Representatives – in fact obliged us to take another route for adopting the decision than the usual procedure. (inscription as point A of Coreper and a Council of Ministers). Thus the mission plan (MisPlan or OpPlan) should be adopted by written procedure this Friday (February 8). And the same procedure will be used for the adoption of the decision to launch the mission. The end of this procedure should be Monday afternoon (February 11). The first soldiers of the mission should be hard at work from Saturday in Bamako to put everything in place for the start of both the expertise mission – which will be almost immediate – and the training mission.
