EUTM Mali: 24 hours in advance…

(BRUXELLES2, exclusive) The training mission of the Malian army (EUTM Mali) could be triggered 24 hours in advance. And the official green light given on Monday (February 11). The holding of the European Council, like the absence of a meeting of the COPS - the Political and Security Committee - and of Coreper - the Committee of Permanent Representatives - in fact meant that the decision had to be adopted by another route than the usual procedure (listing in point A of Coreper and a Council of Ministers). Thus the mission plan (MisPlan or OpPlan) should be adopted by written procedure this Friday (8 February). And the same procedure will be used for the adoption of the decision to launch the mission. The end of this procedure should be Monday afternoon (February 11). The first soldiers of the mission should be on the job from Saturday in Bamako in order to put everything in place for the start of both the expertise mission - which will be almost immediate - as well as the training mission.
