7 Kosovars acquitted of war crimes

(BRUSSELS2) A mixed jury – made up of two local judges and a European judge, presided over by the judge of the Prizren court – acquitted on Tuesday (February 5), seven people charged with war crimes by the special prosecutor of Kosovo ( a European). Ejup Kabashi and Sokol Bytyqi had been suspected of having used measures of intimidation and terror against the Serbian civilian population of Opterushe/Opterusa in July 1998. But the evidence was not sufficient, the jury found. The other defendants — Mustafa Hoti, Milaim Hoti, Naser Hoti, Nexhmedin Berisha and Jetulla Kabashi — suspected of having assisted them in the commission of the crimes were also acquitted.
