7 Kosovars acquitted of war crimes

(BRUSSELS2) A mixed jury - made up of two local judges and a European judge, chaired by the judge of the Prizren court - acquitted on Tuesday (5 February) seven people charged with war crimes by the special prosecutor of Kosovo ( a European). Ejup Kabashi and Sokol Bytyqi had been suspected of having used measures of intimidation and terror against the Serbian civilian population of Opterushe/Opterusa in July 1998. But the evidence was not sufficient, the jury found. The other defendants — Mustafa Hoti, Milaim Hoti, Naser Hoti, Nexhmedin Berisha and Jetulla Kabashi — suspected of assisting them in the commission of the crimes were also released.
