The Surcouf and the Louise-Marie to the rescue of shipwrecked people (UPDATE)

(BRUSSELS2) Ten castaways were rescued from a shipwreck by the French frigate Surcouf (F-711) which is taking part in Operation EUNavfor Atalanta, 30 nautical miles off the Somali coast after their boat began to sink in the ocean . The captain of this Indian-flagged dhow had made a distress call reporting engine failure and the slow capsize. At that time, the French sailors were 26 miles from the coast. It was time. Just 45 minutes after passing on the French ship, the dhow disappeared completely into the sea. The sailors were then transferred on Monday (January 14) by helicopter to the Belgian frigate, the Louise Marie, which was escorting a boat from the World Food Program. Because the frigate Surcouf " was not able to keep new arrivals(probably because of intervention in support of the operation to release the DGSE agent held hostage).
