A hostage killed by the pirates, another injured on board the Mv Orna

(BRUSSELS2) It has been nearly two years since the Mv Orna, a cargo ship flying the Panamanian flag, was captured in the Indian Ocean while transiting from Durabn to Okha (India) with a cargo of coal (26.500 t.). And the latest news from the crew is not reassuring. According Somalia report, the pirates would have, in fact, killed one of the Syrian members of the crew and wounded another. All with the aim of obtaining a ransom payment. The negotiation for the release of this ship was chaotic, relates our Somali colleague. The owner repeatedly promised to pay a ransom and failed to do so, apparently abandoning his crew and the ship. The Mv Orna is, according to information from the Maritime bulletin, owned by Sirago Shipmanagement Co., and operated by Swedish Management, based in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)
