French Minister of Defense visits Brussels

(BRUSSELS2, exclusive) Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French Defense Minister, should end the first part of his European tour in Brussels, intended to "revitalize Defense Europe" according to his favorite term. It will be September 3, as readers of the B2 club have already been able to learn it. A day that should include a relatively busy schedule both listed in the Schuman district (European Union) and bd Leopold (NATO). On the EU side, a meeting is scheduled with the various officials: the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, the President of the European Commission, José-Manuel Barroso, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton. This suggests that it will not only be the points of defense that can be addressed. Le Drian is close enough to F. Hollande and J.-M Ayrault to be the discreet missi dominici of other questions, both political and economic. The European Defense Agency will also be an obligatory meeting for a minister who is above all keen on European industrial consolidation. On the NATO side, Jean-Yves le Drian will have an interview with the Secretary General, AF Rasmussen, and the various Alliance officials.
