A Dane at the head of the EUAVSEC mission

(BRUSSELS2) Lasse Rosenkrands Christensen has just been appointed by the Union's Political and Security Committee (PSC) to the post of head of the EUVASEC mission in South Sudan. He will take office on September 1. This former Danish police official knows the situation in Sudan well, having worked there between 2006 and 2007 as head of logistics for the UN mission. He has a certain experience of crisis situations since he has worked a lot in Lebanon, Syria or even in the Palestinian territories for various missions of the international community between 2007 and 2009, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1996, and in Kosovo for the EULEX mission since 2011.

The European mission at Juba airport, in South Sudan, aims to strengthen air security in the new state, in particular by training and supervising the national security services (Read: EUAVSEC mission in South Sudan launched). A mission which should suit Mr. Rosenkrands Christensen perfectly since between 2000 and 2005 he served as Deputy Commander of Copenhagen Airport and then participated in the Danish Committee for Civil Aviation and Airport Security during the same period.
