Italian head of EU anti-piracy force

(BRUSSELS2) Rear Admiral Enrico Credendino, current commander of the Italian Naval Group and the Italian-Spanish amphibious force, will command the anti-piracy fleet (EUNAVFOR Atalanta) off the Indian Ocean, in from August 6. He also directed the cadet school of the naval academy (2002-2007) and made several passages to the General Staff of the navy, first as an officer in charge of maritime policy (1999-2000), then as Head of the Political Alliances Department (2008-2010) and as Deputy in the Planning Department (December 2010-July 2011).

He climbed all the ranks of the Italian Navy: Ensign in 1983, Junior Lieutenant in 1984, Lieutenant (Lieutenant) in 1988, Lieutenant Commander (Lieutenant Commander) in 1994, Frigate Captain (Commander) in 1998, Captain of vessel (captain) in 2004 and promoted to the rank of rear admiral (commodore) in July 2011.
