A 2,4 billion dollar tender for the Indian Air Force

(B2) The Indian Defense Minister has given the green light for the Indian Air Force to acquire 56 new transport aircraft. The call for tenders which should be made public soon, according to the Indian press, will consist of replacing its 55 Hawker Siddeley HS 748s. This old fleet has been in service since the 1960s. If we do not yet have much more details on this call for tenders, it seems that the Ministry of Defense wishes to obtain a technological exchange with the lucky winner. This should, in all cases, work with the national manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) since if the first 16 can be built from A to Z by the selected company, 16 others must have at least 30% Indian components. and 60% for 24 remaining. The released budget is around $2,4 billion.
