$1 million for the Somali naval forces

(B2) The United Arab Emirates has confirmed its commitment to contribute $1 million to the capacity building of the Somali naval forces and the establishment of a coastguard corps, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anwar Mohammed Gargash, following the Dubai conference on Thursday (June 28). This contribution will go through the trust fund set up at the international level to fight against Somali piracy. It will make it possible to provide boats, communication and equipment the Somali Coast Guard Corps, as well as to set up a central operations command in Mogadishu clarified the minister according to the Emirates press agency. Somalia's government transition period ends on August 20 with the formation of a permanent central government and the announcement of a new constitution.
