The EUAVSEC mission in South Sudan approved by the 27
(BRUSSELS2) The Council of Agriculture Ministers of the European Union adopted today (Monday 18 June) the decision launching the mission to secure the airport in South Sudan (EUAVSEC South Sudan). We remember that this decision was scheduled a few days ago but had to be removed from the agenda because several delegations had parliamentary reservations. These reservations are now lifted.
A question of the fight against terrorism
« The EU is committed to supporting peace, security and development in South Sudan welcomed the High Representative, Catherine Ashton in a press release. " EUAVSEC - South Sudan will work to improve security at Juba Airport to bring it up to internationally recognized standards, which is important to foster South Sudan's economic development and to support efforts to prevent the airport from becoming a target for terrorism. »
We are recruiting
It now remains to designate the head of mission. The recruitment of the rest of the team is in progress. In all there will be 64 people on site, in Juba, the capital of South Sudan. A new call for recruitment has just been launched for about fifteen positions.
For certain posts, only people on secondment from the Member States can apply: deputy head of mission, head of planning and operations, political adviser (who also acts as press officer). For other positions, they may be seconded persons or contract workers: adviser to the Ministry of Transport, trainer and adviser on airport security, security, public contracts, human resources, accounting, engineer, CIS, medical... > Download the list of positions here and the application form leaves.
