The EU Delegation to Burma is open. An Austrian diplomat at its head

(B2) It was an Austrian, Andreas List, who was appointed head of the EU delegation in Burma by Catherine Ashton. This new delegation was opened last Sunday (April 29), on the occasion of the High Representative's visit to the country, and after the opening of a “new chapter” in EU/Burma relations. Andreas List, doctor of law, is an Austrian diplomat. He served for Austria in Belgrade, Rabat, Jakarta, Tokyo and Tunis. As a European diplomat, he worked mainly on South East Asian issues, notably for the peace process in Indonesia and during the independence of East Timor. He was deputy head of the delegation in Bangkok from 2001 to 2005 and has been involved for more than ten years in developing cooperation between the EU and Burma.
