An EU expert mission to Libya on border management

(BRUSSELS2) A team of experts from the European Union left for Libya this week to help the Libyan authorities assess their border management needs. We remember that according to the international distribution - agreed at the level of the United Nations - to consolidate the new Libyan regime, it was agreed that the European Union would take care of this subject. The team is made up of around ten experts from different Member States. But it is not in no case of a CSDP-type mission (common security and defense policy) or of a mission prior to a CSDP mission a close observer of the case told B2. Above all, the mission will have to assess the situation, make recommendations to the European Union both for medium and long-term support and for faster concrete action to help Libya manage its land, sea and air borders. Only then will a decision be taken on the format, duration and intensity of the support provided by the European Union to Libya. This expert mission will last three months. So don't expect a result... before the summer
