Finnish nuclear expert goes East

(B2) Jukka Laaksonen, now retired, will work for the Russian nuclear group Rosatom. His name probably means nothing to you. This is however an anonymous total. Laaksonen was until a few weeks ago, in January, simply the head of the Finnish nuclear authority (STUK). As such, he had access to almost all the files, in particular that of the new generation EPR plant under construction by Areva at Olkiluoto. To say that this "annoys" the French band a little would be minimalist. Areva is particularly concerned about seeing some industrial secrets revealed to one of its potential competitors, such as the Russian group Rosatom. What is more worrying is that this practice seems rather common in Finland where there is no very strict rule for the revolving door of administrative or political officials, as our colleague reminds us Kaleva. Everyone has in mind the example of the former president of the republic, a social democrat, Paavo Lipponen, who became a consultant for the Russian gas transport project, Nord Stream.

NB! We are talking here about civilian nuclear power. And not military nuclear.
