Trial of pirates in Kenya in March

(BRUSSELS2) The 4 pirates transferred by the Danes for the attack on F.V. Tahiri in Kenya are expected to begin trials on March 26. This is what the chief magistrate of the Mombasa court, Lilian Mutende, decided. Previously, it rejected the request presented by the suspects' lawyer, Jared Magolo, who pleaded incompetence to handle piracy cases and requested release on bail, according to Kenyan media. The suspects are charged with two counts: armed attack on a ship with violence against crew members, and hijacking of the ship. The pirates attacked an Iranian ship, the FV Tahiri, between December 1 and 2 last year.
