Witness protection in question in Kosovo

(BRUSSELS2) The protection of crime witnesses is a delicate subject in Kosovo. After the death of Agim Zogaj, found hanging from a tree in the city of Duisburg (in Germany), she finds herself more than ever posed. Former commander of the UCK, the Free Army of Kosovo, Zogaj was one of the key witnesses in the Klecka case. The UCK was in fact implicated for having mistreated Serb prisoners. And the witness had numerous notes taken from day to day. The head of the "Rule of Law" mission (Eulex) in Kosovo, Bout de Marnhac has therefore written an open letter to remind how important the protection given to witnesses is for the European mission. " The situation in Kosovo is not satisfactory he acknowledges. " Steps have been taken by the authorities to offer greater protection to witnesses. But it takes time. Witness protection is handled by both Kosovar agents. But Eulex also has a special unit, " composed of officers who have considerable experience in this highly sensitive area ". This unit was used and is still used " To download the open letter
