An artist general appointed to lead Althea

(BRUSSELS2) The EU military mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina (Eufor Althea) has changed its leader with remarkable discretion. It is true that it is a relay between Austrians. General Robert Brieger was until now Deputy Director General for Operations at the Austrian Ministry of Defense. Entering the Wiener Neustadt military academy in 1976 just after his military service, he served in the 3rd General Staff Battalion as reconnaissance platoon leader, then in the 33rd Armored Battalion as company leader. Most recently, he commanded the 9th Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1994-1995) and served in Kosov as head of the Austrian commander in Kosovo.
