The European diplomatic service signs a 30-year lease
(BRUSSELS2) The waltz of boxes will soon begin at the European Diplomatic Service (EEAS). The capital rental contract with Axa has finally been signed, as confirmed by the Belgian daily Le Soir. The negotiations led by the broker Jones Lang La Salle were finally successful, after several negotiations (mainly relating to the duration of the lease, the work necessary before entering the place and their handling). The lease will ultimately last for 30 years. The rent will be 12,5 million euros per year. But the service will benefit from a free period during the first 30 months. And it is the owner (Axa) who will take charge of certain security and interior design work (to the tune of 27,5 million euros all the same).
It was time. Because the rental contracts for certain buildings where diplomatic service officials are housed are coming to an end. The first to arrive could be at the end of the year. But the majority of transfers will be made in 2012, starting in the spring.
