(BRUSSELS2) Estonian soldiers have been on board the Nivôse for a few days. Originally it was to be the Courbet which was to accommodate them. But this one left to patrol off the coast of Libya. Present for six months in the Indian Ocean, the military should pass successively on several French ships.

Before embarking, they completed a final week-long course in Lorient with commando marines to perfect their training in EPE (on-board protection team) techniques, in the procedures used on French vessels and in the practice of the rules of engagement in the fight against piracy, the French Navy is told. Their main task will be to control suspicious buildings visited by the French ship or to ensure the protection of World Food Program (WFP) or AMISOM ships. The Nivose is currently patrolling the international IRTC corridor in the Gulf of Aden to Oman. Who will learn to speak the other's language the fastest: the Estonians or the French, the bets are off.
