After the WEU, the British study the withdrawal from NATO?

(BRUSSELS2) On the lanfish.jpgborn of the denunciation of WEU, the United Kingdom would consider withdrawing, temporarily or partially, from NATO.

The British would however remain engaged in the ISAF operation in Afghanistan, at least for the next two years. But they would no longer participate in certain committees (much like France before). This option is being very seriously studied in London, a diplomat from Her Majesty told me, April 1er. Finally, it is especially studied very closely in a committee created in all discretion at the Treasury.

The several million euros that the WEU assembly cost the British budget are in fact a trifle compared to the hole noted in the structure of NATO (more than 600 million for the year 2010 alone out of a budget of 2 billion).
