The EU crisis management structure (CPCC/CMPD) has new faces. It's confirmed

(BRUSSELS2) The High Representative of the EU has confirmed for readers of this blog, announced for others, two new appointments to the diplomatic service, two appointments to two strategic posts for the Common European Security and Defense Policy (PeSDC) . The Belgian ambassador to COPS, Walter Stevens, thus takes the head of the CMPD (Crisis Management and Planning Directorate). While the German ambassador, currently heading the EUMM Georgia operation, Hansjoerg Haber becomes the head of the CPCC (Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability), in other words the command of civil crisis operations. Another appointment announced today is that of the Frenchman, Francois Rivasseau, currently Deputy Ambassador of France in Washington, as number 2 of the EU Embassy in the United States (Washington).

« They are experienced and very talented diplomats. And I'm sure they will make a major contribution to our work in the years to come. said Cathy Ashton.
