Finn Ilkka Salmi appointed head of SitCen

At the end of the European Summit, Cathy Ashton this evening announced an appointment that our readers have already known about for a few weeks, that of the Finn Ilkka Salmi, as head of the analysis and intelligence services (SitCen) of the diplomatic service of the EU. “As a respected figure in intelligence circles in Member States, Ilkka Salmi will have an important role in establishing the credibility of the EAS in key areas of its work, handling the fight against terrorism, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and other global threats ” she said.
