A new international convention to prosecute pirates

(BRUSSELS2) This is a proposal from Ukraine announced on 25 August. "The lack of international legal agreement on how to prosecute pirates is an obstacle to efforts to crack down on piracy," Ukraine's representative explained at the Security Council meeting on piracy. And to announce its "intention to submit, during the 65th session of the General Assembly - which opens on September 14 -, a draft global convention to fight against piracy and armed robbery at sea" .
