Who will chair the Council of Defense Ministers in April?
(B2) The question could arise for the "jumbo" council of April 26 which takes place in Luxembourg, given the complexity of the organization of this ordinary council (*). One could wonder who would chair it... Look no further! It will be Cathy Ashton, the EU's chief diplomat. His relatives specifically confirmed it to me. " The High Representative of the EU will indeed chair this Council of Defense Ministers ". The schedules will be adjusted so that the Councils of Ministers of Defense and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, which usually take place in parallel (*), can both be chaired by the High Representative. (*) Until now, 2 or 3 overlapping councils took place: a non-decisional "Defence" council, a decision-making "Defence" council in "European Defense Agency Board of Directors" format, a "Defence + Foreign Affairs" council, a "Foreign Affairs" council, possibly followed by a "Development" or "Foreign Affairs-development" council.
