The Swedes prepare their FHQ for Operation Atalanta

(BRUSSELS2) The Swedes are preparing to take command of the European Union anti-piracy force (EUNAVFOR) off the coast of Somalia. They will, in fact, take over from the Italians in April in the area until August. The operation's command remains based at Northwood (near London).

The Force Commander
Jan Thornqvist recently brought together part of its team for conditioning, firstly at the
naval base of the Carlskrona, the Swedish ship which will serve as FHQ, then at the Training Center
Enköping, in a digital environment that reconstructs, as much as possible, the environment of the team on HMS Carlskrona. The FHQ will consist of around 35 people including 15 Swedes, Norwegians, Spaniards. (Credit photo: Swedish army – Carl Sjöstrand)
