European resources committed to Atalanta

(B2) The EU anti-piracy operation has 7 ships in the area, according to my sources (French Nivose F-732, Spanish Navarra F-85, German Emden F-210, Italian Etna A-5326, Dutch Hs Ms Tromp, Greek Salamis F-455) and, above all, 6 to 8 maritime patrol aircraft, very useful in anti-piracy action: 1  Luxemburgish Merlin III, joined by 1 Swedish Coast Guard Dash aircraft, arriving this week (permanently based in the Seychelles); 1 Spanish P3 Orion, 1 French Atlantique II, 1 German P3 Orion (based in Djibouti and sometimes in Kenya) + 1 kenyan buffalo. To this must be added an 8th aircraft: the Japanese P3 Orion, based in Djibouti, and very closely associated with Atalanta's operations.
