5 pirates arrested released by Alvares Cabral (NATO)

(B2) The Portuguese frigate Alvares Cabral, which is the flagship of the NATO operation “Ocean Shield“, intercepted on Thursday a boat with five Somali pirates on board, which wanted to storm a ship in the Gulf of Aden, about 60 miles from the coast about 60 miles, we learn. The attackers, who managed to get rid of their weapons, were arrested then released, the facts not falling under the Portuguese law on piracy, even if the soldiers were in possession of images (taken by surveillance planes, apparently the Spanish P3 Orion) showing the pirates throwing their weapons into the water.
