The High Representative extended until October 31

(B2) Javier Solana, the High Representative for EU Foreign Policy who is also the Secretary General of the Council, will be reappointed. A decision appointing him - as well as the Deputy Secretary General of the Council, Pierre de Boissieu until October 31 - was adopted by the ambassadors of the 27 according to a written procedure. This extension allows the European Council, which meets on October 29 and 30, to discuss future appointments. But it's a safe bet that by the end of October, a new extension decision will be taken.
