Echo assessment team sent to Sumatra

(B2) After the earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Ritcher scale which struck the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, and which has already caused 549 deaths, the European Commission announced, Thursday midday, that it had released a sum of 3 million euros. This sum, coming from the community budget, will be paid “fast track” to the organizations present on site (Red Cross, NGOs). An assessment team from the European Humanitarian Aid Office based in Jakarta traveled to Padang (East Sumatra) to assess additional needs.
