Diplomatic blunder: Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus finds right to quote in EU report

(BRUSSELS2) It was a relatively innocuous document - the report of the regional working group on drug trafficking in the Balkans - which sparked the fire... A document that is interesting since it describes the different networks, means and routes used to transport drugs to Europe; the various Balkan countries constituting the royal voice for drugs coming from Afghanistan, via Turkey.

But horror! In the Kosovo chapter, page 20, we find among the supply routes this one: “Afghanistan – Pakistan – Iran – Turkey – by sea transport to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus – by sea transport to Europe (as an alternative to Balkan route )”! Needless to say that it caused the fury of the Cypriot delegation which obtained a corrigendum to the document. “areas of the Republic of Cyprus in which the Government of the Republic of Cyprus does not exercise effective control”

It should be noted that according to experts from Eulex, the mission deployed in Kosovo, around 70% of the heroin arriving in Europe goes through the route "Afghanistan – Turkey – Bulgaria – Macedonia – Kosovo and further distribution to Western Europe or even via Albania. »... We are waiting for a protest from Greece which will not be long in coming... given the term "Macedonia" used instead of the usual Fyrom. The Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia has not seen its name recognized in international bodies because of the Greek veto which considers that this name belongs to its historical heritage: the Macedonia of Alexander!
