Abstention less pronounced than expected

(B2) The participation rate in the European elections would not suffer the dreaded drop, according to the figures given by the European Parliament, but variable slightly (decrease, increase or stability),
depending on the country.
- Germany: 20,2 at 14 p.m. against 00 in 20,4
- Austria: 41,2% at 14 p.m.
- Denmark: 20,4% at 12:00 against 16,3 e, 2004
- Estonia: 34,9% at 16 p.m. against 00 in 21,1
- Spain: 24,25% at 14 p.m. (same as 00)
- France: 14,81% at 12:00 p.m. against 13,8 in 2004 (NB: 33,18% at 17:00 p.m. against 33,24% in 2004)
- Greece: 30% at 14 p.m.
- Hungary: 24,09 at 15:00 against 25,50 in 2004
- Latvia: 52,94% against 41,34 in 2004
- Lithuania: 8,51% at 14 p.m. against 00% in 23,91
- Netherlands: 36,5 against 39,3 in 2004
- Poland: 6,65% at 12:00 p.m. against 5,94 in 2004
- Romania: 14,95 to 16:00
- Slovenia: 18,43 to 16:00

These figures do not take into account some countries which seem to be experiencing a more marked decline
- United Kingdom which voted on Thursday (- 10 points, to 28%),
- Ireland, which voted on Friday (- 4 points, at 55%), Italy
- Italy which votes on Saturday and Sunday (- 3 points on the first day of voting, Saturday, 17,8% against 20,5% in 2004)
