Iran arrives in force in the Gulf against the pirates

(B2) Almost the entire planet is now united against the pirates! There were already the United States and Russia, the Europeans of Atalanta, India and Pakistan, China and Japan, the two Koreas, Malaysia, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, South Africa… – I forget some… There will also be… the Iranians. And in force. The Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean thus become the “ nec plus ultra " where any navy worthy of the name must be present.

Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, commander of the Islamic Republic's navy, announced on Monday that Iran would send 6 warships and logistics ships to the Gulf of Aden and the surrounding area. The country had already decided, on May 15, to send two ships of
war. The Alborz frigate accompanied by a Bander Abbas class tanker is going there, according to my colleague Wiegold from Focus. Described as " unprecedented in the history of the Iranian Navy", according to our colleagues at the agency Fars News, the Iranian military added: " This important initiative indicates the country's high military capacity in the face of any type of foreign threat, along the coasts of the country. "In addition to safeguarding Iranian ships, or those linked in any way to Iran, Iranian warships will have the mission of " to assist any other foreign vessel that requests assistance against pirates, to assist the Somali government in its fight against piracy".
