Hard blow for the EU SSR mission in Guinea

(B2) In quick succession, the Guinean Chief of Staff and the President of the Republic died in an attack/assassination. The small army reform assistance mission (EU SSR) maintained by the European Union – described as a rather “quiet” mission – thus finds itself in the spotlight… and especially its advisory mission and restructuring of the armed forces is compromised, or at least transformed. Javier Solana, the chief diplomat of the European Union, therefore launched a “appeal to all to restore constitutional order and help ease tensions in the country“. Hoping it will be heard.
