A cooperation framework with China, Russia and Saudi Arabia

(B2) The European Union is preparing to endorse, on Friday January 30, a cooperation framework for the fight against pirates in the Indian Ocean, with three countries - Russia, China, Saudi Arabia. As recommended by the head of operation, Rear Admiral Jones, this is to facilitate the exchange of information between the HQ and the European ships engaged in the EUNAVFOR Atalanta operation. Situation of the ships, attacks launched, successful or foiled, feedback on the modus operandi of the pirates... All the information necessary for the smooth running of operations and its efficiency. In practice, such information was already exchanged, for example, between Russian and European ships. But in a completely informal way. This framework formalizes the practice. And above all complete it. Experience feedback is particularly essential in this type of operation. There Russia was present, very quickly in the area, in the international anti-piracy operation. China just got there.
