Ukrainians with Europeans in Operation Atalanta?

(B2) Ukraine is ready to fight alongside the European Union against Somali pirates, Ukrainian diplomatic spokesperson Vasily Kirilitch said on Monday, according to our Russian colleagues at Ria Novosti, who are generally well informed about their neighbors. …. “Ukraine is conducting intense negotiations with the EU to join the military operation to combat piracy off the Gulf of Aden in the formats that the Union deems necessary and effective,” he said. -he indicated, adding that the terms of Ukrainian participation had not yet been defined.
NB: The Russians had also indicated that they were “interested” in Operation Atalanta. But they should act more in coordination with the European operation than be integrated into it.

The Ukrainian offer is not completely unexpected
. There is already a permanent cooperation framework agreement signed between Ukraine and the European Union (which has not yet been used). And during the last meeting between the Ukrainian Chief of Staff and General Bentegeat, Chairman of the EU Military Committee, Ukraine made a very direct offer of participation in the EU, by offering to participate in a or two battlegroups (1). Generally speaking, the Chod had also drawn up a list of the means that his country could make available to the EU if necessary: strategic air capacity, helicopters, NBC equipment, Medevac medical evacuation, etc. This participation could be – beyond the operational aspect a “political gesture” of rapprochement with the European Union.
