Russian helicopters as reinforcements for the Europeans in Chad at the beginning of July?

(BRUSSELS2) July 1st… This is the objective of the OHQ in Paris. The final technical details of the project were approved last week. And we are waiting for a political agreement which could be this week. At least we hope so in Brussels. With this Russian reinforcement (Mi8s), the 3 Polish helicopters (Mi17) also expected and the 8 French helicopters (Gazelle, Puma), Eufor will have at its disposal a force of 15 helicopters.

Side of third countries. The Albanian Parliament confirmed its participation in the operation a few days ago. The Albanians will come to take over from the Finns in guarding the camps. Croats and Macedonians are also expected. We clearly have here a new face of European Defense, since contrary to all the adages: a substantial military operation is possible with the participation of a single member of the trio of three militarily “powerful” countries (France, Germany, United Kingdom), with the support mainly of Poland (which intends to play in the big leagues for Defense, and is making its mark in a remarkable way), neutral or non-NATO countries, as well as more symbolically (but it is important) of Balkan countries. When will there be Kosovars in Chad?

Furthermore, we clearly see on the Russian side a desire to support – beyond words – the European Defense Security Policy. Support without denying the implication: we might as well help the Europeans to strengthen themselves, that's always taken from the Americans (I'm caricature!!).
