Recognition of Kosovo: the 2nd wave

(B2) More than a month after Kosovo's proclamation of independence, there are still around ten states that have not recognized the former "autonomous republic" of Serbia.

La Czech Republic could recognize Kosovo. But there is "draw" in the ruling coalition. While Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg (Green) plans to submit the Kosovo recognition project to the government already on April 2, before the start of the NATO summit in Bucharest, the Christian Democratic Party KDU- ČSL, the majority in power, is more circumspect. According to Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek, the independence of Kosovo will not be on the agenda of this cabinet meeting on April 2. Earlier, he had declared that the Czech Republic would recognize the independence of Kosovo provided that this country ensures respect for the law, public order and the protection of minorities on its territory.

La Romania retained its position on March 20 again: no recognition of Kosovo, with a nuance noted by the national press. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Cioroianu indicated that “ words like "never" and "always" have no place in diplomacy ».
