Central Southern AfricaMissions Operations

EUFOR Chad CAR at the Summit

(B2) The operational establishment of the European Union military mission in Chad and the Central African Republic (Eufor) should be the subject of talks, aside, at the highest level, on the sidelines of the European meetings this week ( Europe-Africa Summit, Council of Foreign Ministers, signing of the Lisbon Treaty, European Council). The lack of helicopters and medical evacuation units could thus be addressed directly, during bilateral meetings between heads of state and government on December 14 in Brussels. It is especially around the question of the financing of the additional means rather than the very availability of the means that the discussion should focus. This, in order to unblock the situation and to be able to begin the deployment of European troops.
