A hijacked ship sinks off the coast of Somalia. No news from sailors

(BRUSSELS2) The Mv Albedo, an Iranian freighter flying the Malaysian flag, and detained by Somali pirates in an anchorage near the Somali coast, has sunk in rough seas, confirmed the HQ of Atalanta, the European anti-terrorist operation. -piracy on Tuesday (July 9). An Eunavfor warship and aircraft patrolled the area in an attempt to locate survivors. But so far without success.

The MV Albedo had been in the hands of pirates since it was attacked in the Indian Ocean in November 2010. Its crew originally numbered 23 sailors - according to the B2 database. 1 Indian sailor had died during the hostage taking. 7 Pakistanis were released on August 1, 2012 - including Captain Jawaid Saleem, against payment of a ransom. According to the "Pirates-B2" database, there were still 7 Bangali, 6 Sri Lankan, 1 Indian and 1 Iranian on board.
